Beautifully bespoke, timeless country living

The Willow Tree House project is one of timeless beauty and elegance, it’s a charming cottage nestled in the heart of the North Yorkshire country side. Packed full of traditional quirks, Willow Tree House has all the character of a stone-built cottage that you would expect, which is why the homeowners invested their time and trust in Thomas May to craft a bespoke solution for their home.

The homeowners have lived in the house for over 25 years and felt like it was the right time to modernise and add a touch of luxury to their home. Thomas May was asked to transform the master bathroom, create a bespoke walk-in wardrobe and tailor-made cabinetry, wall panelling and storage solutions for the master bedroom.

For the master bathroom we crafted a bespoke bathroom vanity unit complete with marble top and his and hers Lefroy Brooks undermount basins and taps, a custom-made linen cabinet and bespoke timber wall panelling, which housed a secret door into the dressing room.

The homeowners wanted to add grandeur to their bathroom with panelling but didn’t know where it would fit, we worked with them to come up with a solution that ticked the panelling box and also allowed us to create a secret door into their dressing room.

The dressing room posed a completely different challenge to the master bathroom and bedroom, it was a lot smaller in its proportions and more typical of a period property. With lower ceilings and sloping walls, we needed to creatively design cabinetry around the quirks of the room to maximise storage capabilities while keeping as much floor space as possible. Tailor-making the cabinetry to the room and homeowners requirements meant that we were able to create a truly bespoke storage solution.

The dressing room has several features designed to make the homeowners lives that little easier, with plenty of open hanging space, oak dovetailed drawers, custom-made tie and belt storage and adjustable shelving for shoes and accessories. We added wall panelling and a bespoke radiator cabinet to compliment the cabinetry and create a look of timeless luxury within the room.

Onto the master bedroom, here we handcrafted a bespoke television cabinet, a built-in cabinet with open shelves to maximise storage in an awkward alcove space, a luxurious radiator cabinet with antique brass grilles and continued the bespoke wood panelling to further the sense of flow and continuity between the three rooms.

In addition to the bespoke cabinetry, we also replaced the existing windows with timber windows to ensure superior craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail, which was reflected across all joinery aspects of the project.
